Key Sections
We know that we can prevent child sexual abuse before it occurs, but it takes a continuum of strategies to make positive, effective change in any effort to protect children. No single solution exists to accomplish this goal – instead, a comprehensive framework of elements, best practices, and strategies must be woven together and put in place to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments in youth-serving organizations. The key sections of this report present these elements in turn, and are followed by discussions about implementation, oversight, measurement, organizational culture, leadership and sustainability.
The key sections of this report include:
- SECTION 1: Developing policies and procedures for child protection
- SECTION 2: Screening and Background Checks for Selecting Employees and Volunteers
- SECTION 3: Code of Conduct and Monitoring
- SECTION 4: Ensuring Safe Physical Environments and Safe Technology
- SECTION 5: Recognizing, Responding to, and Reporting Allegations and Suspicions of Child Sexual Abuse
- SECTION 6: Training About Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
Review the next section, Additional Considerations to learn more about implementation and oversight, communication, measurement and sustainability, community partnerships, and organizational culture and leadership.
