Prevention Is Power
The guidelines on Safe Kids Thrive are based on the best practices and recommendations from The Massachusetts Legislative Task Force on the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and draws from the collective experience of nearly 30 public and private youth-serving agencies, offices, and organizations to effectively keep children safe from sexual abuse.
A Legacy of Fighting Child Sexual Abuse
The Massachusetts Legislative Task Force on the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse is a multi-agency collaboration of almost 30 public and private youth-serving agencies, offices, and organizations from across the Commonwealth. The Task Force, chaired by the Children’s Trust and the Office of the Child Advocate, has met regularly since 2015.
Meeting our collective goal of developing guidelines and tools to help YSOs protect children from sexual abuse, our work is organized into the following 8 Elements of Prevention:
- Codes of Conduct
- Monitoring Behavior
- Policies and Procedures
- Safe Environments
- Screening and Hiring
This interactive website represents years of research and collaboration by the task force to build an actionable set of best practices for adoption across all YSOs in Massachusetts.
